SNAIL BRAID

Introducing the SNAIL BRAID.  I saw this braid on TBD's website.  They are doing a little contest and the best pictures will get featured in there upcoming video tutorial of this braid.  I decided it would be fun to enter even though I probably will not make the CUT.  I am a little braid challenged.  I always have been,  in hair school we had to pass off cornrows and I found out quick that braids especially cornrows were not one of my strengths.  Anyhow, I decided it would be fun to give it a try.  I picked my sister's hair, she has A LOT of hair which I new could make it hard, but would also give me a lot to work with.  I did the reverse braid (you go underneath instead of over top) to give the braid more volume and then I laced tulle throughout it.  I was hoping to get some sparkly or shiny ribbon, but was unable to make it to the store in time so my sister just brought over some tulle she had at her house.  I think a sparkly and shiny ribbon would look prettier, or even some flowers or a brooch.  I actually wish I would have done the flowers or a brooch, but it's too late now.
Down below is the finished look.  I thought it turned out beautiful.  It wasn't easy breezy for me, but after the third try I finally got it down.  I would do a video on this, but TBD is taking care of that.  I will post the video as soon as they do.
Thanks again Krin for coming over and letting me experiment.  The kids did really well, other than Myla for some reason decided not to nap.  Why oh why does that always happen.  Towards the end of all the fun my sisters little boy Talon started saying "no more pictures mom".  Yeah, we probably spent just as much time on the pictures as we did her hair, but I think we got some good ones.

Here is an example of where I started and finished.  Hope you guys have fun trying the snail braid.

What do you guys think?  Is this something you would ever wear?

XOXO Megan

  1. I really like it - it's beautiful, but I don't see myself ever being able to duplicate it!
